News from Your Club Caribe Annual Meeting

May 6th and 7th saw yet another successful Club Caribe annual meeting at Villa del Palmar Cancun, a free event which welcomed all Club Caribe members staying at the resort during this time, with many members arriving especially to attend the meeting. This year’s meeting, on the theme of “Happiness is Here and Now,” welcomed more than a 100 members, and was the first year we were joined by some of our Spanish speaking members from Mexico and Latin America.

Attending the annual meeting is a great way to socialize with other likeminded members as well as to meet the faces behind your membership such as the President, Vice President, directors and executives from members services at Club Caribe as well as the management team at Villa del Palmar Cancun. As one member couple commented: “We never miss it; we love the meeting and the party, but mostly we like it to make a lot of new friends who enjoy the same as us” (Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, USA).

Highlights from your Club Caribe Annual Meeting

Registration in Hiroshi

Wednesday May 6th welcomed members in Hiroshi Restaurant for registration where they received a small gift, the program of events and passes.

Ice-breaker Hindu-Style

At 5pm members were invited to an Indian-themed ice-breaker cocktail party on the terrace outside Davino’s Restaurant for mingling and meeting the executive team of both Club Caribe and the resort. To match the Indian theme, there were girls dressed in saris and colorful details as well as free henna tattoos for members who wished to get into the spirit of the event. It was wonderful to see so many members from the USA, Canada, Mexico and Latin America socializing with one another and Club Caribe staff at Villa del Palmar Cancun.

Annual Meeting at Casona

Casona hosted the official Annual Meeting on Thursday from midday where, amongst other speakers, Club Caribe’s president Bob Kistner and Vice President of Hospitality at Tafer Hotels & Resorts, Carlos Aquino inspired members with their visions for the future for Club Caribe (part of Tafer). News that came as a delight to members was the announcement of a future development in the Riviera Maya near Playa del Carmen, with plans for a Garza Blanca Resort with Hotel Mousai to be completed in the next two years.

Club Caribe members also had the chance to meet Julieta Reynoso, the Cancun representative for Eagle’s Wings Foundation and Sara de Cardona, a board member for the foundation. Eagle’s Wings is the charitable foundation which coordinates the donations made by members each year. On behalf of the Eagle’s Wings Foundation, Sarah de Cardona presented three checks to local charities and organizations: $7,500 USD to Fundacion Ciudad de la Alegria, A.C, $7,500 USD to Asociacion de Padres de Familia con Hijos Deficientes Mentales de Benito Juárez, A.C. (APAFHDEM) and $15,500 USD to the DIF Cancun, the official Mexican public institution of social assistance. As one member mentioned, “Everything that’s been mentioned in the meeting is really interesting; I didn’t know that my donations went to [Eagle’s Wings] foundation” (Mr. and Mrs Perdomo, Bolivia).

For our Spanish speaking members, a simultaneous interpreter translated the speeches in real time transmitted through headsets.

Round tables

After the meeting, Club Caribe members had the chance for face to face consultations with different members of Club Caribe and Villa del Palmar Cancun’s executive team to talk about a variety of questions from membership benefits and upgrades, questions on specific Villa Group and TAFER resorts, how to make an exchange, and much more.

The Grand Taj Mahal Fiesta

At night, it was time for members to let their hair down at the themed “A Night at the Taj Mahal” party at Caprichos, which included a delicious buffet and show. Stunning costumed dancers and singers provided original entertainment followed by a DJ who got most of our members up and dancing.

Organizers and your faithful team at Club Caribe were over the moon with the way the event unfolded and we hope that more and more members will join us next year.

“This is the first time I’ve stayed here after I bought my membership and it’s amazing. Everything is Perfect” (Lydia & Antonelli, Canada).
