The ArtWalk in Los Cabos

If you want to experience the thriving, creative, and innovative art scene of San Jose del cabo while you’re on vacation at Villa del Palmar Cabo or Villa del Arco, the weekly Art Walk which is held every Thursday night between November and May will be just your cup of tea. The local Gallery District Association set up this weekly event as a way to showcase the wonderfully diverse artworks that can be found here, and the event has really taken off, becoming wildly popular with tourists and locals alike. It’s become so big, in fact, that the local government shuts off certain roads and streets when it is taking place to allow walkers to enjoy the night without worry about traffic. Many Galleries also open their doors between 5 and 9 pm to cater to Art Walkers.

A Fabulous Cultural Experience in Los Cabos

This cultural experience has the whole Gallery District of San Jose del Cabo alive and buzzing every Thursday night; many places will have free snacks and drinks to enjoy while you look around, and the main plaza will usually have live music and entertainment to enjoy. The pace will be relaxed and enjoyable, but you will be on foot so make sure you wear something you don’t mind walking in; you don’t want to be worried about sore feet while everyone else has a great time.

Art Walk Thursdays

The Art Walk is the perfect time to soak up some culture and see some of the Galleries that San Jose del Cabo is famous for. In fact, many of the Galleries will also host special events for the Art Walk; whether these be “meet and greets” with local Artists, unveiling of new pieces, or even live demonstrations, depends on the week and the Gallery owner. Nonetheless you’ll find a wide and diverse selection of art works all across the district: jewellery, glass work, bead work, paintings, sculptures, and handicrafts will all be on display. If you see something you like be sure to talk to the proprietors as they are open for business as well as questions.

After Art Dinner

The fun doesn’t have to end with the Art Walk, however; the Art District has many wonderful bars and eateries which will still be open for business when you are done. So why not carry on the festivities with some of your fellow art-walkers? There’s plenty of chances to enjoy the balmy nights and dine al fresco, too, if that’s your thing.

The Los Cabos Art Walk is something you won’t regret taking part in when you’re on vacation in Cabo from November through May, while most of the galleries and restaurants are open in San Jose del Cabo throughout the year. This is a rare chance to rub shoulders with the up and coming artists and gallery owners of the San Jose del Cabo scene.
