As one of the most famous archaeological sites in Mexico, Tulum is a must-see for anyone visiting the Cancun area.  Home to jaw-dropping architecture such as towering pre-Columbian temples, and some of the most magnificent vistas of the Caribbean found anywhere, you are sure to feel awestruck.  From there, you can go to Aktun Chen Park, which contains an otherworldly underground cenote that you can swim in.  An optional guided tour through a mystical cave is lots of fun as well.

Reef and Shipwreck Snorkeling Tour

The Caribbean waters off the coast of Mexico are practically begging visitors to get in and explore, and this tour allows you to do just that!  Your tour will begin with a stop at a protected coral reef that provides a safe and inviting oasis for marine life and tropical fish.  Next, you will head to an area of the water with a thick bed of seagrass where creatures including crabs, lobsters, sea turtles and stingrays tend to hang out.  Lastly (and the most thrilling part for many tourists) is a visit to an authentic shipwreck where you can see the ravages of the sea firsthand.  It is likely you will observe marine animals and schools of tropical fish while you are there.

Isla Contoy Day Trip: Snorkeling and Eco-Paradise

Spend the day touring both land and sea with this thrilling adventure.  You will begin by snorkeling around the brilliant coral that makes up the Ixlache Reef, where marine wildlife such as queen conch, sea turtles, spiny lobster and tropical fish delight visitors.  Afterwards, wander around gorgeous Isla Contoy, where a certified expert will guide you around this national park and wildlife refuge that provides a safe haven for over 150 species of birds as well as several sea turtle species.

Cancun Underwater Museum

The Cancun Underwater Museum also have dive site as well as “exhibitions” that can be appreciated by glass bottom boat.

Swim with Whale Sharks

There are few excursions as exciting as this one during the summer months, which takes you to the underwater habitat where ginormous whale sharks like to feed.  Swimming next to the largest fish species in the world might seem scary at first simply because they are so enormous, but they are actually completely safe for humans to be around.  During your tour, it is likely you will enjoy sightings of other wildlife including dolphins, sea turtles and manta rays, too.  From July through September only.
