June is the ideal month for a vacation

Father’s Day falls in the perfect month to take a vacation. June marks the start of summer and what better way to celebrate than by staying at Villa del Palmar Cancun where you can cool your ankles in the pools and drink ice cold beer on the beach.

Combine Father’s Day with the Mid-Summer Solstice on June 21st and enjoy all the pre-Hispanic rituals and ceremonies that take place at many of Cancun’s Mayan archeological sites, including El Meco ruins just 5 minutes from Villa del Palmar Cancun. Father’s Day can turn into a cultural escape full of new discoveries and experiences.

Why do we celebrate Father’s Day?

Like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day is a wonderful excuse to pamper our fathers or those special men who have been like a father to us. The idea of establishing an official Father’s Day in the United States dates back to June 1909, when a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd decided to honor her father, a veteran of the civil war. In 1966 US President Lyndon B. Johnson declared the third Sunday in June as the official date when fathers would be celebrated.

Not all countries celebrate Father’s Day on the same day each year, but in Mexico, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and many Latin American Countries, the third Sunday in June is reserved for dads. For 2016, Father’s Day will fall on June 19th when we will pamper dads from all over the world at Villa del Palmar Cancun.
Why not visit us this year so we can help you celebrate?
