Karla, thank you for taking the time to talk with me today for the members’ newsletter. Please tell our members a little bit about yourself.  I’ve been in the hospitality industry for 23 years. The majority of the time, I’ve been in housekeeping. I’ve also worked in other positions, such as turndown service, reservations, banquets, I also worked as a server in restaurants, and a runner and a busser in restaurants, but most of my time in hospitality has been spent specializing in housekeeping.  I was born in Mexico City. When I was 8 years old I moved to Morelos, Mexico. When I was 18 years old, I immigrated to the United States, and I lived in Sedona, Arizona. I love Sedona. I hope I can live the last days of my life in Sedona. I worked at L’Auberge de Sedona Resort & Spa for 15 years. I interviewed Daniel for this newsletter last July when he was new to Tafer Resorts with only 3 months on staff, and he was working as the Assistant Manager of Food and Beverage at Garza Blanca. Shortly after our last interview, on August 1, 2018, he was promoted to Experience Manager, Food & Beverage, at Hotel Mousai, where he has begun implementing some exciting new experiences for members and guests. What activities does your department currently provide for members and guests? Hotel Mousai is an adults-only hotel, so our members and guests are usually couples, romantic getaways, and young people, so we needed to think of activities to share with this kind of demographic that they would be interested in. Right now, the Food and Beverage department provides four activities for members and guests each week: Thursday Mixology Class – Our mixologist teaches guests how to prepare margaritas, micheladas and other drinks, and then lets the guests make them on their own  Friday Champagne Nights – We fill a hot tub full of bottles of …

Tell us something about your professional history. I was born and raised in Mexico City. After that, I moved to Puerto Vallarta and lived there for 6 years. I earned my degree in Public Accounting from the Politecnico Institute in Mexico, in the “ESCA” section, which is the section of commerce and administration. In 1999 I submitted my job request to the American Chamber, and after that I was called for an interview at the hotel Sheraton Maria Isabel, a very iconic hotel at that time. I was offered a job at the hotel in a position called Accounting Analyst. During that time, I had the opportunity to get involved in multiple areas that allowed me to grow within the same company, and finally I was able to get a mid-executive position as subcontroller overseeing the centralized services of the tax division in Mexico. My first executive position as General Controller was at the Sheraton Santa Fe in Mexico City. After that, I had a horizontal promotion and moved to Puerto Vallarta to work for …

Jose Luis, thank you very much for your time today. Could you share a little about yourself? I am originally from Jalisco, but I attended high school through university in Mexico City. I love the city, but I love where I currently live! I studied mechanical engineering, which I am passionate about without a doubt. I am a graduate of the Polytechnic University of Mexico. I am originally from Mexico City, where I studied until my university career. During the first semester of my Communications major (I share that it is easy for me to write!) we went on vacation, but what a vacation!! We truly never imagined what we would experience on that trip. We had an accident on the road – my parents, my sister and I – from Mexico City. We went to Morelia for my grandparents, but that time they did not want to go. The last thing I remember after the accident is to have woken up and I was the first of my family to react and the first thing I did was try to get them out. Fortunately no one lost their lives, but we had severe injuries. It was a very severe event. After the accident, months later we were still in Guerrero / Acapulco, the destination to which we initially headed to enjoy a family vacation. The ladies in the Member Services office at Garza Blanca Puerto Vallarta tell me that Javier Garcia is a real Casanova, but he was a little bit shy and reserved when speaking to me for this interview. Javier is serious and modest, brushing off his accomplishments as I asked him to talk about his background. The truth is he’s a rising star at Garza Blanca on the Membership side, and he has just recently earned a promotion that is taking him from Puerto Vallarta all the way to Los Cabos.   Javier was born in Mexico City and did his undergraduate studies in Puerto Vallarta in the field of Business Administration. He then went on to law school in Spain, where he earned his master’s degree in law from Complutense University of Madrid, which is one of the oldest universities in the world and one of the largest in Europe. Members work closely with the Verification Loan Officer (VLO) and their team during and after purchasing. In this month’s newsletter we dive a little deeper into the life of one superstar VLO who recently moved from Villa Del Palmar Cancun to the new Garza Blanca Los Cabos.   Ximena is passionate about her job, and how she interacts with members. “As VLOs, we represent the developer and we also represent the member. We try to make sure when a member purchases a membership they understand everything they’re getting, and they feel comfortable and happy with their membership,” Ximena said. “We make sure everything they were promised is in the contract. Our goal is to make sure that their membership is affordable and it brings them joy in their vacation. We also follow up after with members after their purchase if they have questions, if they need any help. The new year has arrived and with it many memories! We had important investment projects that reaffirm the commitment of the TAFER group and Villa del Palmar Cancún to continue maintaining the property, keeping it updated and in the best possible condition; The remodeling of all our studio-type rooms to condition them according to AAA standards in the category of 4 diamonds, the replacement of 60% of the custom manufactured mattresses for TAFER group, the creation of a new area to provide greater comfort in our pools called “ZAK”, the complete remodeling of the Davino restaurant and the total change of furniture in our …
